Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of US Ship Now, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for US Ship Now:

  1. Insufficient Contrast Ratios: In certain areas of the website, users may stumble into configurations where the contrast ratios do not render in the way they are intended by the developer. Due to screenreaders and accessibility plugins' (such as AccessiBe) efforts to provide an accessible experience for their users, there are times in which the contrast ratios are miscalculated due to the nature of the Dawn Theme's code in Shopify. For example, certain buttons have transparent backgrounds which are mistakenly labeled as opaque, leading to erroneous 1:1 contrast ratios being reported where there are none. Other times, the Dawn Theme automatically makes certain text more transparent than intended by the developer. This in turn can lead to reduced contrast ratios and in some cases, contrast ratios which do not comply with WCAG standards. As a result of the aforementioned issues, we are reviewing our site weekly and making updates where possible to ensure the most accessible experience possible. In this process, we use different tools, such as WAVE, to review our accessibility practices. It is important to note tools like these, in addition to screenreaders, can sometimes erroneously render the colors and background colors of certain areas on the site in ways that we cannot predict nor account for in a timely fashion. We monitor emails and contact form submissions to ensure any user issues are dealt with as quickly as possible, and are implementing processes to log these audits and the resulting edits as proof of our commitment and efforts to maintain WCAG compliance. Please submit a contact form to us if you are having any particular accessibility concerns and we will endeavor to respond to you within 2-5 business days if possible.
  2. Insufficient Alternative Text on Product Images: Certain product images may lack the requisite alt text to provide verbal descriptions through screenreaders or in cases where the images refuse to load. because Our website is integrated with the WonderSign connector, a massive product feed which feeds thousands of products to our Shopify backend. These images do not come with alt text by default, as a result of Wondersign's configurations, leading to many new images populating the site every day which do not have the requisite alt text, title, or a coherent naming convention. As a result of the aforementioned issues, we are reviewing our site weekly and making updates where possible to ensure the most accessible experience possible. In this process, we use different tools, such as WAVE, to review our accessibility practices.
